Versioning the BizTalk generated MSI files

For each application in Biztalk it's possible to generate a MSI file, which can be used to deploy an application elsewhere.
To create this MSI file we can use the BizTalk admin console.
Right-click the application for which you wish to generate the MSI file and select 'Export' -> 'MSI file...' as shown below.

Now just follow the simple wizard to create the MSI file on disk.

The file that is created will always have version 1.0.0.0 assigned to it. You can overwrite the version number (and other properties) manually with Microsoft Orca, but this is quite cumbersome.
